A field note on clarity
Clarity is often a better definition of progress than another layer of detail.
A team can know a great deal about its situation and still struggle to act. More information does not automatically resolve the choice. Sometimes it gives uncertainty a more elaborate vocabulary.
Name the decision first
Before commissioning another piece of analysis, write down the decision it is meant to support. Be specific about who will make it, which options are open and what would change their mind. This simple step gives research a practical purpose.
Keep uncertainty visible
A useful strategy document distinguishes evidence from assumptions. When the distinction disappears, the team may defend a confident story instead of testing the parts that matter most. A short assumption log can be more valuable than a polished appendix.
Give the next step an owner
Clarity becomes useful when somebody can act on it. End the discussion with a next step, a named owner and a point at which the choice will be revisited. The goal is not to remove uncertainty. It is to make progress possible within it.
